Day 1 — Atlas Mountains

Depart Marrakech at 7:30 AM heading south through the dramatic foothills, passing through the spectacular Moulay Brahim Gorges before arriving in Imlil — perched at 1,740m and the gateway to Mount Toubkal, North Africa's highest peak. After a welcome mint tea, your local Berber mountain guide leads you on a 3–4km trek through walnut groves and terraced fields to the traditional village of Aroumd, with the towering peaks of the Toubkal massif as your backdrop. The authentic highlight: a home-cooked lunch with a local Berber family, offering a rare window into High Atlas mountain life. A short afternoon hike to a scenic waterfall rounds off an unforgettable first day in 

After breakfast, descend from the High Atlas and head south through the dramatic Tizi n'Tichka mountain pass at 2,260m one of the most scenic drives in all of Morocco with stops at panoramic viewpoints and traditional Berber villages along the way. By midday, arrive at Ait Ben Haddou, the iconic UNESCO-listed ksar and filming location for Gladiator, Game of Thrones, and Lawrence of Arabia. Your guide walks you through the ancient earthen fortress before lunch at a local restaurant. Continue to Ouarzazate  Morocco's "Hollywood of the Desert" for a visit to the impressive Kasbah Taourirt.

The longest and most rewarding driving day. Head east along the famous Road of a Thousand Kasbahs, stopping at the lush Skoura Palm Oasis and the ancient Amridil Kasbah. Wind through the Valley of Roses, where Berber families have harvested rose petals for centuries, then pass through the dramatic red-rock formations of the Dades Gorge and the towering 300m walls of the Todra Gorge. As the landscape shifts from rock to sand and the first golden dunes of Erg Chebbi appear on the horizon, mount your camel at sunset and ride deep into the Sahara. Dinner is served around a campfire, followed by traditional Berber music under a sky full of stars.

Wake before dawn and climb the dunes to watch a golden Sahara sunrise — the perfect ending to your 4-day Atlas Mountains and Sahara desert tour from Marrakech. After breakfast at camp, your driver takes you back through the stony desert and Atlas foothills on a different return route, with stops for photos and refreshments along the way.
